SPCC, Active in the Mangemangeroa Creek since 1958.

We take a keen interest in maintaining the environment. The flora and fauna in the creek are very vulnerable to many threats including our own activities. We take our responsibilities for protecting and preserving our environment seriously and ask you to play your part in helping us discharge that responsibility.

FAQ's

What mooring facilities does Shelly Park Cruising Club offer?

We oversee around 65 permanent swing moorings in the sheltered Whitford River at Cockle Bay. All our moorings are serviced and inspected by private owners, and we recommend Hauraki Marine Services or Tidal Engineering for this work as they know our river well and are fully approved contractors for the regional councils. Our facilities also include an emergency club mooring, fresh water and power from our service grid, plus kayak and secure dinghy storage.

Can I haul out my boat at the club?

Yes, after 6 months of membership! Active club members can use our haul out and short-term hard stand facilities for vessels up to 10 metres in length (boats up to 12 metres may be considered at the Haul Out Officer's discretion). We cater for both mono hulls and multi hulls. When you use the haul out facility, you'll join our rotational roster to help other members with their boats – typically 4 times a year for 2-4 weeks.

What sizes and types of boats can join the club?

We welcome power launches and sailing/mono hulls up to 10 metres in length. We also accommodate kayaks and small boats with dedicated storage facilities. Our haul out cradles and facilities are designed to handle both mono and multi hull vessels safely and efficiently.

How does the club keep fees so affordable?

We operate on true Kiwi style – all our members pitch in to maintain equipment and club facilities. This hands-on approach, combined with our member-run structure, keeps costs to a minimum. From looking after the park reserve and lawns to helping with haul outs and general upkeep, everyone contributes to making boating accessible and affordable for all members.

What's the location like and where can I cruise from here?

We're based in Auckland on the Whitford River in Cockle Bay, which gives you brilliant access to Auckland's pristine Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island and the Coromandel Peninsula. It's a fantastic launching point for exploring some of New Zealand's most beautiful coastal waters, and we even organise family club picnics at lovely Gulf beaches during the year.
